CLUE 8

OLD TOWN HALL

This page has extra help and information about this clue location, as well as extra things you might want to do while you are here.

You can find the image hint for the clue at the bottom of this page.

You are now at the heart of the High Street in Christchurch. This "old" Town Hall is not the original one - the original was further down the High Street, which was built between 1745 and 1747. Under the arches was where the market used to be held. In 1857, Mr James Druitt bought the land where the Town Hall now stands, and relocated it brick by brick to where you are now! On the first floor is the Mayor's Parlour, which is still used today for meetings and functions.

PHOTO CHALLENGE

Here are some different things you can take a photo of in this spot:

THINGS TO DO NEARBY

This is the centre of Christchurch High Street, and most of the remaining clues will take you on a little tour of it. While you are in this particular location, imagine the markets that happened under those arches, or even attend the market today - the High Street is closed every Monday for this to take place!
