THE OLD COURTHOUSE

This is known as The Old Courthouse. It used to be a normal dwelling - a house where people lived, and it had the garden reduced to make way for the castle's moat. The Court Leet (another name for court held by Lords of the manor) used to meet in the Castle Gate House, which has been demolished, and also a back room in this building, which has a thatched roof.
PHOTO CHALLENGE
This is a fun building to photograph. In order to solve the clue, you need to find the Blue Plaque. You could take a picture of that. You can also take a picture of this building from the other side of the road (you have to cross over for the next clue) and try to get some close up pictures of the unique features of this thatched cottage.
