ROSSMARKT

This page has extra help and information about this clue location, as well as extra things you might want to do while you are here.

You can find the image hint for the clue at the bottom of this page.

Roßmarkt has changed significantly over time, especially during the 19th and 20th centuries as Frankfurt expanded and modernised. What was once a busy trading space gradually became part of the city’s commercial centre, surrounded by shops, banks, and offices.

The monument to Johannes Gutenberg was added in the 19th century and reflects Frankfurt’s strong connection to printing, publishing, and the spread of ideas. Gutenberg himself spent time working in the city, making this a fitting place to honour his legacy.

Today, Roßmarkt sits at the meeting point between Frankfurt’s historic core and its modern shopping district. If you look beyond the square, you’ll notice how quickly the architecture shifts, from traditional buildings to glass-fronted stores and offices, showing how the city has continually adapted over time.

PHOTO CHALLENGE

The monument is really the main area with great photo opportunities, but can you find a unique angle of one of the figurines or characters on the statue? Or maybe you have a book with you and you can commemorate the invention of the movable printing press in a unique way?
